Yuehuimei S Chongqing Hotel Review – Convenience and Value

Choosing a hotel for our Chongqing trip wasn’t easy but it was probably because I was being too picky. Choices were aplenty on Trip.com but some hotels had quite a number of negative reviews so I was extra careful when selecting the hotel since we were going to be there for 5 nights. I ended up with a hotel newly open in 2025 so here’s our Yuehuimei S Chongqing hotel review.

There are 2 Yuehuimei hotels in Chongqing, and the one we stayed at is the Chaotianmen branch.

Check In

Check in was smooth and we also were allowed up to our room around 1pm, even though it was before official check in time. We also added the hotel’s WeChat, so that we could contact them if needed.

The Room – Featured Room

We booked the featured room for the bathtub and by luck got the corner room, so it was bigger than other rooms of the same tier (we peeked into other featured rooms on our level). The living space in the room was very spacious and very ample for opening up 2 medium sized luggages with lots of space to spare.

The Bed

The bed was a little towards the firmer side but not to the point of giving a backache. There were 2 pillows, a soft one and a firmer one. Bedside tables on both sides of the bed also come with wall socket so both people can charge their devices while on the bed.

Room Amenities

Room amenities were typical of a good hotel, including kettle, hairdryer, water, tea & coffee, toothbrushes and room slippers.

The biggest difference between the rooms at Yuehuimei S and other hotels would most probably be that the rooms here have a projector instead of a television. The projector still allows access to the usual channels like a TV would, so it wasn’t a problem.

The Bathroom

The shower and toilet were in separate stalls so the toilet area doesn’t get wet when you bathe. The toilet had a foul sewage smell for a couple of days and when we asked the hotel staff about it, they said it was probably due to the rain. This sewage smell problem might be a common thing in Chongqing, as I’ve read quite a number of reviews of other hotels with a similar problem. Could be a building drainage system problem?

The shower area was spacious, not much complains about the space. However, the hot water would come with random bursts of cold water while in use, which got pretty annoying.

Yuehuimei S Hotel is a pretty small hotel hence doesn’t have many amenities, most notable would probably be the gym.

In addition, because the hotel is so small the luggage storage also looks like it isn’t a real luggage storage and I’ve seen that luggages are left just in front of the check in desk, not in a storage room. If you look closely, you can see some luggages in front of the counter in the image above.

WiFi

We didn’t try the WiFi as it was indicated as ‘weak security’ when connected. Didn’t want to risk anything, had plenty of data on our eSIMs anyway.

The Service

Service was okay; we didn’t really interact with the staff beyond check in and check out, however, they took our complaint of the sewage smell well and explained it without being defensive. They also gave us a little bag of Chongqing snack as a souvenir during check out.

The Location of Yuehuimei S Chongqing

One of the biggest selling points of Yuehuimei S is definitely its location, being just a minute walk to the famous Raffles City Shopping Mall and is also less than 200m away from the nearest metro station.

The only gripe I have is that there isn’t a proper area for cars to stop, and you’ll have to drop off on the main road, right at a traffic junction. This was a little anxiety-inducing for me as we had to get on and off the car as quickly as possible as the traffic on that road is heavy at all times.

Price

We paid around SGD 60/night for the room, but a quick check shows that room rates start at SGD 30 for the most basic room tier. Really good deal for a hotel so conveniently located.

Final Rating

Cleanliness: 4/5
Price: 5/5
Ambience: 3/5
Value: 5/5
Remote workability: 3/5
