For our trip to Chongqing, we chose to fly with Cathay Pacific as it was one of the cheapest options. I’ve also never flown with Cathay Pacific, so it was a good chance to try them out and this is a Cathay Pacific Economy Class review based on our experience.
For additional context, this is the route we took, and it included a stopover in Hong Kong.

About Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is the flag carrier of Hong Kong and has the Hong Kong International Airport as its hub. Cathay Pacific is one of the top airlines in world, known for its service, cleanliness and comfort, often getting a 5-star rating.
Baggage Allowance
All Cathay Pacific flights come with baggage allowance. However the weight varies by route.
These are the general baggage allowance, however flights to the Americas, seem to have slightly more baggage allowance. You can check the baggage allowance for your flight using the baggage calculator on the Cathay Pacific website.
Economy: 23kg
Premium Economy: 2 x 23kg
Business: 2 x 32kg
First: 3 x 32kg
Punctuality

The flights for both legs of the journey boarded on time. Although there was a delay in take off for the SG – HKG flight due to some issues with the Vietnamese air space, the pilot was also quick to inform us on what was going on and we still got to HKG earlier than scheduled.
Comfort

Each seat came with a blanket and cushion. However, on the second leg of our journey (from HK to CKG), we weren’t given blankets and cushion. As I was walking out of the plane, I saw a number of seats with the blanket and cushion, so I assume you have to ask for it.
Leg room wasn’t a problem for me. For context, I’m 152 cm, and there was ample leg room (refer to image above).
My favourite part was that the plane has a configuration of 2-4-2, so it was great that there wasn’t a middle seat on the sides.
Entertainment System

The movie selection onboard was decent, it wasn’t the largest selection, but for a short flight it was sufficient.
Under each screen, there is a USB port. I did not see any other ports for charging, so this USB one was the only one.
Cleanliness
Cleanliness was good, no dirt and grime spotted in the little corners of the seat and table. A huge difference from our experience on Air China (don’t get me wrong I still like Air China, but not for its hygiene).
Toilet
Not much to say about the toilet, it was pretty standard in my opinion, and although I visited the toilet late into the journey, it was still quite clean and neat.

In-flight Meal
SG – HKG

Probably because it was a red eye flight; on this first leg of the journey, we were only given a snack box with sandwich, muffin, macadamia shortbread and fruits. Nothing much to rave about for this snack box, but the sandwich was dry and tough. We also weren’t served drinks on this flight. Kinda disappointing for a 4-hour long flight.
HKG – CKG

For this second leg of the journey, we were served breakfast and the options were fried noodles with dim sum or sausage and eggs. Being a really picky eater, I often dislike plane food, but I found the noodles to be quite good — not too salty, while still flavourful. Texture was alright too.
Cathay Pacific Economy Class Review – Final Thoughts, Ratings

If comfort, punctuality and value is something you’re after, Cathay Pacific is definitely a good choice. Furthermore, Cathay Pacific’s hub — Hong Kong International Airport is filled with food and shopping options, making it a good stopover location as well.
Rating, based on our experience:
Punctuality: 4/5
Cleanliness: 2/5
Food: 2/5
Value: 4/5
