1. Inuyama Cat Cafe

If you’re looking for a fun weekend activity the whole family can enjoy, Inuyama is a must-visit. With a dedicated ball pit that kids will love and over 30 playful, well-cared-for cats to interact with, this new cafe in Bukit Indah is as wholesome as it gets. During our visit, we witnessed a family teaching their child how to interact with the cats — telling her to keep her volume down and be gentle with the cats. The kid also had an absolute blast in the ball pit.
It doesn’t hurt that it might be the most aesthetic cat cafe in JB either; pink walls, floral decor, and even a swing, making every corner incredibly photo-worthy.

I’ve been to a number of animal cafes that were a little… pungent, but Inuyama is very clean, no pee smell and when the cats have a little accident, the staff cleans up right away. Also, the cats here aren’t shy at all — many will come right up to you for attention, making the experience even more interactive.
Located just a short hop from Aeon Bukit Indah and 20 minutes by car from the JB checkpoint, Inuyama is perfect for school holiday plans or a weekend outing with the fam. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during holidays and weekends. You can drop them a text via Whatsapp to make a reservation.

2. Chucky Cat Cafe

Located in a slightly unexpected location — Komtar JBCC, Chucky Cat Cafe houses cats of various sizes, including Bengals, Bristish Shorthairs and Maine Coons. Most of the cats here are extremely food motivated, so they are easily bribed if you have a treat in hand, ! The cats at Chucky Cat Cafe were also some of the most active cats I’ve seen in a cat cafe; though it could be due to the time we visited — and it wasn’t right after lunch hour. Treats can be bought for RM 5.
If you’re up for something less furry, there are geckos at this cafe too 😉

Note: To get to Chucky Cat Cafe, take the escalator next to Thai Express.
Entrance Fee:
Hourly Fee: RM 22.90/hour for Adults, RM 19.90/hour for Children under 12, the hourly fee does not include drinks or food
Day Pass: RM 65 for Adults, RM 55 for Children under 12, day pass includes a drink
Opening hours: 10am – 10pm

3. HOME by Tales of Paws Cat Cafe

This viral spot is home to many beautiful cats, including a number of Ragdolls and British Shorthairs. The cats here were not super affectionate and most were asleep when we visited, but those that were awake were open to pats. HOME by Tales of Paws houses both a cat cafe and dog cafe, as well as a pet shop. The cafe also provides lint rollers for use before leaving, which is a great touch.
My only gripe about this cafe is that it’s a little pricey and they also charge foreigners more. The cat cafe is pricey for Malaysia’s standards and they even charge foreigners a different rate. The entry fee includes a scoop of ice cream and bottle of water. Entry fee starts at RM58 for foreigners on a weekday.

Entrance fee: Starts from RM 48, includes water and ice cream
Opening hours: 10am – 7pm, closed on Wednesdays
Address: 121, Jalan Serampang, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia

4. Choco Neko

Choco Neko is a cozy, homely cat cafe and the best part of it all, there is no entrance fee, or a minimum spend. You’ll just have to order a drink for each visitor. There aren’t as many cats here as a typical cat cafe, but this also ensures the cats have plenty of living space.
The star of the show here is definitely Yuzu, a white cat with heterochromia, not something you see everyday! I would also recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a unique spot to work on the weekdays, as the cafe was quiet and pretty conducive for work in my opinion.
Entrance fee: None
Opening hours: 12pm – 6pm, last order at 5.30pm, closed on Sundays
Address: 24A, Jalan Permas 14/6, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, 81750 Masai, Johor, Malaysia

5. Cat Times

Cat Times is a relatively new cat cafe that opened in the second half of 2024. The cats here were some of the most friendly cat cafe cats I’ve encountered. A cat actually slept on my lap over an hour and most cats here don’t run from human touch. The environment was really clean and does not have the “animal” smell that many animal cats (or even homes!) have. Treats can also be bought for RM5.
Entrance fee: None, just minimum spend of RM10
Opening hours: 12pm – 10pm, closed on Mondays
Address: 70-02 Jalan Jaya Putra 7/2 Bandar Jaya Putra 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
