In our last trip to Kuala Lumpur, we stayed in the city centre as we wanted access to the main tourist attractions. This time however, we needed access to IOI City Mall as my friend and I were in KL to skate at the ice rink. IOI City Mall is quite a distance away from the city centre and so we decided on Moxy Putrajaya which was right above the mall so that we could get to the ice rink easily. In this Moxy Putrajaya review, read about the unbeatable convenience from staying right at the doorstep of Malaysia’s largest mall.
In This Moxy Putrajaya Review
Check In

Check in was a breeze. We got to Moxy Putrajaya at 9am and once our check-in was processed; left our bags with the staff and went to explore IOI City Mall, which is attached to Moxy. During check in, we also asked if there was a possibility of getting our room by 2pm and extending our check out time by an hour, and the staff kindly okay-ed our request! The official check in time is 3pm and check out is at 12pm.
The lobby was huge, but exuded a cozy fun vibe with the decor and styling.
The Room

We stayed in the Moxy Twin room with 2 single beds. To the left once we entered the room was the toilet and then greeted with a pretty minimally decked out room. The work desk was also very aesthetic in my opinion.
One of the highlights of the room was also the view, overlooking the mall and highway.

The Bed
The bed was firm — slightly too firm for my friend’s liking. The pillows however, were flat, pretty typical of a hotel pillow though. I didn’t stack the pillows as it was too high for me when stacked, but sleeping on 1 pillow felt like I wasn’t sleeping on a pillow.
In terms of cleanliness, I found a strand of hair on the bed and the blanket was stained.

Room Amenities
Nothing special or out of the norm was provided, but nothing to complain about as well. The usual tea and coffee was provided, as well as 2 pairs of hotel slippers. The fridge was however, empty and not very cold as well, but it wasn’t a problem for us.
The Bathroom

The toilet was spacious, nothing much to complain about, except that there were dye stains on the shower wall. Maybe the previous guest just dyed their hair and it was their first couple of washes, thus splashing colour on the wall?
Toilet amenities wise, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hairdryer and towels were provided. No comb though.
Moxy Putrajaya Hotel Amenities
Besides the usual conference room, pool and gym, the biggest selling point of Moxy Putrajaya is probably being right above IOI City Mall. IOI City Mall is the largest shopping mall in Malaysia and has everything, supermarket, lots of food choices, an ice rink and a sports centre. This means that we did not have to travel out of the area during our stay. Food and entertainment were all right by the hotel.
The hotel is accessible via level LG of IOI mall, through a small walkway next to Old Town.

WiFi
The WiFi was a public network without the need for a password. It was however, strong enough for my friend and I to have a zoom call in the room at the same time.
The Service

Staff were very friendly and as mentioned earlier the staff that processed our check in agreed to extend our check out by an hour. However, besides at check in and check out, we didn’t interact with any other hotel staff during our trip.
Location of Moxy Putrajaya
Moxy Putrajaya is located around a 40-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and also around a 40-minute drive to the city centre. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway from the city centre, this is a good option. But if you’re looking to explore the main tourist attractions in KL, this might not be the hotel for you.
Price
We paid MYR366 for 1 night via Trip.com, not the cheapest option in KL but I think it’s worth the price tag. I feel that what you’re paying for is the access to the mall and not having to leave the area during your time there.
Final Rating
Cleanliness: 3.5/5
Price: 3/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value: 4/5
Remote workability: 5/5
Moxy Putrajaya is under the Marriott so we knew that the choice would likely be a safe one.
